Lilburn GA Golf

There are hundreds of golf clubs throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan Area because golf is one of the most popular sports in Georgia, but Lilburn’s residents don’t have to travel very far to find one. Designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the 18-hole Stonemont Course at Stone Mountain Golf Club, 1 Stonewall Jackson Drive in Stone Mountain, (770) 465 3278, opened to the public in 1969 and is only about 6 miles from Lilburn. The Stonemont Course features 5,319 yards of golf from its longest tees for a par of 72. Equally close is Stone Mountain Golf Club’s Lakemont Course at 1145 Stonewall Jackson Drive in Stone Mountain, (770) 465-3278. Designed by John LaFoy, this 18-hole public golf course has a par of 71 over 6,444 yards of playing field.

Eagle Greens at Southland, 5726 Southland Drive, Stone Mountain, (770) 469-2717, has a private 18-hole course designed by Willard C. Byrd, ASGCA, with 6,700 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Smoke Rise Golf & Country Club, 4900 Chedworth Drive, Stone Mountain, (770) 908-2582, is another private club with an 18-hole course designed by Gary Roger Baird, ASGCA, and it features 6,783 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.

Two golf courses are about 7 miles from Lilburn

The Heritage Golf Club at 4445 Britt Road in Tucker, (770) 493-4653, has a public 9-hole course that was designed by Mike Young with 3,401 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The Country Club of Gwinnett at 3254 Clubside View Court in Snellville, (770) 978-7755, has a relatively hilly and well bunkered private 18-hole championship golf course with a par of 72 that was designed Steve Melnyk in 1993 and modified by Bill Boswell in 2004.

Three clubs in Duluth that have 9-hole courses are Berkeley Hills Country Club, 2300 Pond Road, (770) 448-4661, with a private course featuring 3,088 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36 that was designed by Gary Player, Arthur L. Davis, ASGCA, and Ronald Kirby, ASGCA; the Atlanta Athletic Club, 1930 Bobby Jones Drive, (770) 448-2166, with a private par 3 course; and TPC at Sugarloaf, 2595 Sugarloaf Club Drive, (770) 418-1113, with a private par 72 course that was designed by Greg Norman.

Three 18-hole golf courses are open to the public in Duluth. The course at Peachtree Golf Center, 2833 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, (770) 497-9265, was designed by John LaFoy, ASGCA, and it has 2,604 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 54; the course at St. Marlo Country Club, 7755 Saint Marlo Country Club Parkway, (770) 495-7725, was designed by Denis Griffiths, ASGCA, and it has 6,923 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72; and the course at The Hooch Golf Club, 2705 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, (770) 476-2525 that was designed by David Johnson and Grant Wencel features 4,101 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 61.

Two private golf clubs in Duluth with 18-hole courses are The Standard Club at 6230 Abbotts Bridge Road, (770) 497-1920, whose course featuring 7,075 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 was designed by Arthur Hills, ASGCA, and St. Ives Country Club, 1 Saint Ives Country Club Drive, (770) 497-9432, whose course featuring 6,932 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 was designed by designed by Thomas Fazio, ASGCA.
